Man tried to pay for Home Depot buys with fake dollars

Durham police are searching for a male suspect after he used fraudulent bills to pay for merchandise at a hardware store in Whitby.

On Tuesday, December 16, around 3:50 pm, the suspect male attended the Home Depot located at 1700 Victoria Street East in Whitby.

The suspect gathered merchandise and paid for one item with fraudulent Canadian bills before attempting to flee with unpaid items. The suspect was confronted by loss prevention officers who retrieved all stolen items, before the suspect fled the area on foot, said the police.

The suspect is described as: male, White, clean shaven, approximately 40-50 years-old, with a medium build. He was wearing a black & white ball cap, black winter jacket, black hoodie, gray pants, and black boots.
