Lane restrictions at Thornton Road to last till month-end

The Region of Durham is advising residents of several closures, lane restrictions and tree removal across the region.

Oshawa

Lane restrictions are in place at the intersection of Thornton Road North and Rossland Road West in the City of Oshawa due to a watermain drain valve leak.

The restrictions will remain until the drain valve repairs are finished. The work is expected to be completed later this month, although unfavourable conditions could affect the schedule, said a region statement.

The left lane closest to the median is closed on Thornton Road North, just north of the intersection with Rossland Road West in Oshawa.

A watermain drain valve is leaking, causing water to leak onto Thornton Road. To complete the repair, a full shutdown of the watermain is required. However, due to ongoing scheduled work at the Oshawa Water Supply Plant (WSP), a shutdown of this nature, at this time, would significantly impact the water service and pressure for local residences and businesses.

Eastbound drivers on Rossland Road West turning left at the Thornton Road North intersection will need to turn into the curb lane.

Flooding: A portion of Harmony Trail and Adelaide tunnel closed from King Street East to Bond Street East and Adelaide Tunnel until further notice. The closure due to flooding and high creek water.
