Durham police yesterday said a male is facing several charges after stealing items from an electronics kiosk and brandishing a knife at the Oshawa Centre.
On Thursday, January 22, at around 8:10 am, members of Central East Division responded to a robbery call at the Oshawa Centre located at 419 King Street West.
A male was seen stealing items from a cell phone kiosk. Oshawa Mall security confronted the suspect who brandished a knife and fled the area in a vehicle, police said..
No physical injuries were reported, they added.
Later that day, the suspect was located in Brampton where he was taken into custody by Peel Regional Police. Custody of the suspect was transferred to investigators from the DRPS Robbery Unit. The suspect presented a false name to police but investigators were able to correctly identify him.
At the time of his arrest, the suspect was on various court imposed conditions, including a weapons prohibition. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
He was held for a bail hearing.
