6th pedestrian hit since Oct, in life threatening condition

Durham police yesterday said a pedestrian remains in critical life-threatening condition following a collision in Ajax.

This will be the sixth pedestrian reported to have been hit in the past three months (see below).

On Thursday, January 22 around 11:05 am, members of West Division responded to a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Kingston Road West and Ritchie Avenue.

A 57-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a pick-up truck while crossing the roadway on the west side of the intersection.

The female was transported to a Toronto-area trauma center where she remains in life-threatening condition. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.

The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation.

Anyone with cell phone, dash cam, surveillance footage, or information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Tymcio of the Collision Investigation Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5256.
