Quarrel-led stabbing leads to nearby schools lockdown

Durham police said a man is facing charges following a stabbing incident at a residence in Bowmanville.

On Friday, February 13, around 6:50 am, members of East Division responded to an armed person call at a residence in the area of Liberty Street North and Carlisle Avenue.

Two men were involved in a verbal altercation when one of the males brandished a knife and stabbed the victim. Officers arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody without incident. The victim was taken to a local-area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Schools in the area were placed on a brief hold and secure due to their proximity to this incident. No students or staff were involved or connected to this incident in any way.

The 28-year old man from Clarington was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available www.drps.com.
