A male student was found with drugs, a gun and an extended magazine while at school in Ajax.
A student with a gun was also found in Guelph, reviving memories of the February 10 massacre in Tumbler Ridge (see below). A school in Oshawa was placed under Hold & Secure after a prank threat and another school in Pickering too required heavy police turnout earlier (see below).
Yesterday, Durham police said a male youth is facing several charges after a firearm investigation at a secondary school in Ajax.
On Tuesday, February 10, around 10:55 am, members of West Division responded to a call at Father Donald Maclellan Catholic Secondary School located at 458 Fairall Street.
Police had received information that a student at the school may be in possession of a firearm. Officers located the male at the school and took him into custody without incident.
Drugs and a firearm with a prohibited extended magazine were located in the male’s possession, police said.
Weapons’ Prohibition
The accused was already bound by a weapons prohibition at the time of his arrest, police said.
The 17-year-old boy from Ajax is facing numerous charges. He was held for a bail hearing and remanded to a youth detention facility.

Third School-Police Incident
This is the third recent incident in Durham where heavy police turnout was required at schools in Durham.
The first incident took place on Tuesday, Janury 27th where a threat to William Dunbar Public School in Pickering was received which led to a lockdown situation.
The second incident took place on Thursday, February 5, where members of Central East Division responded to a threatening call at Harmony Heights Public School located at 590 Galahad Drive in Oshawa.
