Addition to OPG campus HQ to bring 2,000 jobs to Clarington

The proposed addition to the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Campus Headquarters at Energy Drive in Courtice, is projected to bring 2,000-plus jobs, according to a Clarington announcement.

It said Ontario Power Generation has submitted a site plan amendment for an approximately 27,000 square-metre addition to the existing Darlington Energy Complex (DEC) building. The proposed addition will be a three-storey mass-timber structure constructed east of the existing building.

“The addition and the existing building will form part of OPG’s new corporate campus and will bring more than 2,000 new jobs to the community,” said the statement.

The new office will be connected through a shared central atrium, which will become the main entrance to the campus facility. The headquarters will demonstrate a high-quality architectural and landscape design, creating a signature facility with visibility along the Highway 401 corridor. This application is in conjunction with the site plan application north of Energy Drive, which proposes parking to serve this site.
