The Town of Ajax on Wednesday announced its intention to pass a Temporary Use By-law to establish temporary use permissions for a crisis care facility on the lands municipally known as 126, 128, 130, 132, 136, 138, 140, and 142 Commercial Avenue.
The subject lands are zoned Downtown Central Area – Mixed Employment One (DCA/ME1) Zone in the Town of Ajax Zoning By-Law 95-2003, as amended, which does not permit a crisis care facility, said a town notice.
Under Section 39 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended, the town may, through a by-law, authorize the temporary use of land, buildings or structures for any purpose that is otherwise prohibited by the Zoning By-law, for a period not exceeding three years. The town may, through a by-law, grant further periods of not more than three years, the notice explained.
It appears the town wants to exercise that right.
