Following yesterday’s meeting, the Town of Ajax 2026 budget was deemed adopted with an even lower rate of 1.28 per cent after further cuts were made.
Earlier, the town’s budget document estimated: “The proposed tax rate increase for the town is 4.90 per cent which is an effective change of 1.61 per cent on the average residential property tax bill.”
Yesterday’s statement from the town explained that the proposed tax impact for residents (1.28 per cent now) is the Ajax portion of the tax bill, before the region’s increase and education impacts.
“The total blended rate – which is the total impact to Ajax tax payers – will be known once Durham Region finalizes their budget on Wednesday,” the statement added.
