Lane restrictions on Dundas and road closure at Athol

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Dundas Street East in the Town of Whitby and a road closure on Athol Street East in the City of Oshawa due to watermain breaks.

The repair is ongoing and will be in effect until the watermain repairs are completed.

It’s located along Dundas Street East, from the intersection of Lupin Drive to the intersection of Craydon Road, lane restrictions will be in place, allowing one lane in each direction (eastbound and westbound) to maintain the flow of traffic.

Businesses and residents in the area of Dundas Street East, Lupin Drive and Craydon Road will experience a temporary water service interruption or low water pressure during the repair.

Athol Street in Oshawa

The road closure will take effect December 14, and will be in effect until the repairs are completed for Athol Street.

The watermain has been isolated on Athol Street East in Oshawa. The affected area extends roughly 100 metres east of Charles Street.

Businesses and residents in the area bounded by Athol Street East to Charles Street will experience a temporary water service interruption or low water pressure during the repair.

When the water service returns to normal, it is important for customers to turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately five to 10 minutes to clean out any sediment that may have accumulated in your water service. This will avoid any sediment entering the hot water system.

More information regarding the expected duration of this service interruption will be provided as it becomes available.

The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
