Durham police yesterday said a male has been charged in connection with a fraud investigation involving forged vehicle ownership documents in Ajax.
On October 20, officers responded to a fraud-in-progress call at Service Ontario after the suspect provided what employee’s believe to be fraudulent documentation to transfer ownership of a 2019 Dodge Caravan from the victim.
Service Ontario employees noticed that the ownership document had not been signed by the registered owner. The suspect was seen leaving the office and going to his vehicle alone. He returned a short time later with the same documents, which now had a signature, and gave them to a Service Ontario employee, who then contacted police.
Service Ontario employees reported that the accused had attended the location on several previous occasions and was believed to have registered vehicles using fraudulent documentation.
The suspect, age 52, of Toronto, was charged and released on an undertaking with conditions. Name, photo and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Police believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone who may have information related to this investigation to contact D/Cst. Taylor of the Durham Regional Police Financial Crimes Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5283.
Editor’s Note: Durham Post does not name or identify the accused as:
1. Of this time, they are suspect[s] and not convicted by a court, and
2. Sometimes charges are amended or dropped.
Same suspects, different crime!!! That’s what they’re all about! Deportation must be taken seriously!!
