Durham police yesterday said a male is facing multiple charges following a vehicle financing fraud investigation in Oshawa.
Between October 22 and October 26, the accused impersonated an Oshawa resident and used forged identification to arrange the purchase of a 2027 GMC Acadia Denali from Mills Motors in Oshawa. Dealership staff contacted the real individual and confirmed he was not involved in the transaction.
On October 26, the accused attended the dealership to complete the purchase and take possession of the vehicle, at which time police were notified.
Members of Central East Division arrested the accused, who was found in possession of fraudulent identification bearing the victim’s name. Officers also located approximately 11 grams of fentanyl on the accused.
Further investigation revealed the accused was bound by two release orders and was wanted on a warrant with another police service.
The suspect, 57-years-old, of Toronto, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name, photo and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact D/Cst. Taylor of the Financial Crimes Unit at 905-579-1520 ext. 5283.
