Audi, drugs, gun, cash seized in Ajax

Durham Police investigators have arrested two suspects and seized a quantity of drugs, cash and a firearm after concluding a drug investigation in Ajax.

On February 12, investigators from the West Division Community Response Team executed a search warrant as part of an ongoing drug investigation at a residence on Sullivan Drive in Ajax. During the search warrant, investigators seized approximately $35,000 in cash, $32,000 in drugs (cocaine, crack cocaine), a 2017 black Audi S6Q and a loaded firearm with an overcapacity magazine.

Kayasha Bagnaut, age 27, and Michael Fraser, age 37, both of Sullivan Drive in Ajax are facing numerous charges including: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2 (cocaine, crack cocaine); Weapons Dangerous; Possession of a Prohibited Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized; Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device; Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition; Store Firearm Contrary to the Regulations and Careless Storage of a Firearm.

They were held for bail hearings.

Suspicious vehicle

In another incident on February 12, officers from the DRPS Central West Division tried to initiate a traffic stop for a suspected stolen vehicle at Thickson Road, but the target vehicle attempted to flee eastbound on Highway 401.

However, the driver lost control on Simcoe Street off ramp of highway. Two suspects tried to escape but were arrested after a brief foot pursuit, along with a third suspect who had remained in the vehicle.

All three have been charged, with one 37-year old man held for bail hearing, while another 37-year old man and a 29-year old woman were released on an undertaking.
