Car thief arrested… twice in one day

Durham Police officers arrested a suspect twice in one day for two separate stolen vehicle incidents in Oshawa on Sunday.

On February 7 at around 2 am, members of Central East Division responded for a possible impaired driver in the area of Centre Street and John Street in Oshawa. Police located the Ford F-150 pick-up truck at Simcoe and Bloor Street, when officers attempted to pull it over, the suspect slowed down near a bike path and fled on foot. Officers arrested the male after a brief foot pursuit. The male was also found to be in possession of Crystal Meth. The 32-year-old was charged and released on an Undertaking, said a police statement.

Later the same day at about 8:45 p.m., members of Central West Division and East Division responded to a theft of vehicle in area of Taunton Road and Harmony Road in Oshawa. The victim had left her vehicle running with two young teens inside. The suspect kicked the teens out of the vehicle and stole the vehicle. Police were able to track the vehicle to a residential complex near Rockcreek Drive in Oshawa. The 32-year-old suspect was arrested and faces more charges.

Tyler Noseworthy, age 32, of No Fixed Address faces numerous charges for both incidents including: Theft of Motor Vehicle x2; Possession of Property over $5,000; Impaired Operation by Drugs; Fail to Stop for Police; Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data; Possess Identification for Fraudulent Offence; Fraud Not Exceeding $5,000; Fail to Comply with Undertaking; Possess Property Obtain by Crime and Dangerous Operation.

The man was held for a bail hearing on the second stolen vehicle incident.

Stolen vehicle found, two arrested

Officers arrested two suspects after they stopped a stolen vehicle in Ajax overnight.

On February 7 at around 10:43 pm, a member of West Division observed a stolen vehicle travelling northbound on Westney Road in Ajax. The officer followed the vehicle into a townhouse complex in the area of Westney Road and Rossland Road West. The vehicle was stopped and two suspects were arrested. Police received information that the Mazda SUV was stolen from Toronto.

Members of West Division conducted a search of both suspects and the vehicle and seized over $16,000 in drugs (fentanyl and methamphetamine).

Brian Fyffe, age 20, of Birchmount Road in Toronto is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime; Possess Schedule I Substance for Trafficking x2 and Driving While Under Suspension.

Catherine James, age 37 of Slater Crescent in Ajax is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime; Possess Schedule I Substance for Trafficking x2 and Possess Schedule IV Substance for Trafficking x2.

They were both later released on an Undertaking.
