Bad weather leads to 80 crashes in 24-hours: DRPS

Durham Regional Polce Service (DRPS) has reported some 80 motor vehicle collisions in a 24 hour period when snow blanketed the region.

This is almost four times higher than the average number of vehicle crashes (26) that take place in a 24-hour period in the region.

“From noon yesterday [Monday November 11] to noon today [Tuesday November 12] our officers have responded to approximately 80 motor vehicle collisions – just to put that in perspective, we usually respond to about 26 in that time frame,” said a SRPS tweet.

“Please adjust your driving to the conditions and remember to put your headlights on,” it added.

  1. No surprises. Around here drivers drive very badly.. People try to run me off the road going 79 in a 70. Even around the police station. How fast are they driving elsewhere? I drive 9 km to work..but every day I see at least one person texting. Today a girl was texting right behind me coming out of our neighourhood. She was behind me on highway 2 so I moved over, as I did not want her to ram the back of my car becuase she’s texting while she’s driving.
