Cellphone stores robbed in Ajax and Bowmanville

Five suspects are wanted for the robbery of a cellphone store in Bowmanville last Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at approximately 4:10 p.m., police responded to a robbery at a Rogers store on Regional Road 2 in Bowmanville. The suspects, who were armed with knives and screwdrivers robbed the store of cash and cellphones before fleeing in a Ford Explorer. There were no physical injuries reported by staff.

Police spotted the vehicle travelling on Highway 401 and attempted to stop the vehicle. They pursued the vehicle, but later discontinued following the vehicle for public safety concerns.

Robbery investigators are also investigating a cell-phone robbery at the Rogers store on Westney Road in Ajax at 3:30 p.m. It is believed that the suspects in this incident are also responsible for the Bowmanville robbery.

The vehicle is described as a dark Ford Explorer. There are no suspect descriptors at this time.
