Chestnut Hill complex preparing to reopen

City of Pickering is preparing to re-open the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex.

There will be some new things to expect during each phase. Amenities and programming will vary and be consistent with governmental orders and guidelines, said a city statement.

CHDRC continues to follow stringent sanitation protocols for proper disinfection, operation and maintenance, as well as adding additional procedures to achieve a new level of cleanliness. Throughout the day, cleaning staff will focus on high touchpoints such as handrails, doorknobs, and washroom facilities. In the evening, each facility will be sanitized, it said.

In order to maintain group size limitations and ensure physical distancing is respected, pre-registration will be required for all activities taking place at CHDRC.

During the first phase of the opening, no walk-in participation will be allowed. Some of the facilities will remain closed such as change rooms, fountains and vending machines, so it will be necessary for guests to arrive ready for exercise with water bottles filled. Staff will monitor each active area in the facility to ensure proper cleaning of equipment is taking place prior to and after use,the statement said.

Equipment is spaced 2 metres apart and for guests who do not wish to exercise with younger patrons, a 55+ Fit Zone with both cardio and weight equipment will open in the west salon, along with 55+ Fitness Classes in the East Salon.
