City of Pickering CAO Tony Prevedel to retire

After 12 successful years with the City of Pickering, Tony Prevedel, Chief Administrative Officer, will be retiring effective June 12, 2020.

Under Prevedel’s leadership, the City of Pickering has evolved to become one of the GTA’s premier municipalities. Seaton, Durham Live, and Pickering’s emerging downtown are just some of the transformational projects that he has skillfully managed since he became CAO in 2010, said a city statement.

“On behalf of Council, I would like to thank Tony for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to growing Pickering in a progressive and positive manner,” said Kevin Ashe, Deputy Mayor.  “While he leaves big shoes to fill, he has helped position the city for continued success in both the immediate and long term future. Council’s top priority is to ensure a seamless leadership transition as Pickering is poised to become one of the nation’s growth leaders.”

The city will be conducting a formal executive search to permanently fill the CAO position in the coming months.
