Durham Police have identified and arrested the suspect of a sexual assault that occurred in Bowmanville in the Municipality of Clarington.
On Sunday, October 6, at about 5:30 pm, members of East Division responded to a sexual assault call in the area of Jollow Drive and Concession Road 3. A female met a male on Tinder who pretended to connect her with a second male on Snapchat. After becoming acquainted on Snapchat, the suspect attended the female’s residence.
While inside the residence, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim. The suspect left the residence on foot prior to police arrival.
The suspect on Tinder went by the username ‘Alex’ and on Snapchat went by the username ‘Moses’.
On Tuesday, November 12, members of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB), with the assistance of the Offender Management Unit (OMU), took the suspect into custody.
Police have concerns there may be other victims and are requesting anyone with information to come forward to investigators.
A 21-year-old male from Whitchurch-Stouffville was charged and released on an undertaking. Name, image and further details available at www.drps.ca.
