Knife-wielding teens cause lockdown in Clarington school

Two males are facing charges after they threatened another male with a knife in Bowmanville.

On Tuesday, November 5, at about 2:20 pm, East Division officers responded to a call about an armed person near Clarington Boulevard and Stevens Road. Two males in a vehicle approached a pedestrian and threatened him with a knife.

The victim fled the scene and contacted police. Before officers arrived, the suspects had already left the area.

A nearby secondary school was briefly placed into a hold and secure as police searched the area for the suspects.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

Further investigation linked this incident to a previous altercation involving the same parties. Members of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) identified both suspects, who were taken into custody without incident.

This was an isolated incident, and police have no public safety concerns.

A 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, both from Clarington were charged and released on an undertaking.
