Clarington begins search for new Ribfest, concerts field

The Municipality of Clarington has begun the search for new grounds to host its cultural events such as the popular Ribfest and music concerts etc.

Clarington Council has directed its Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to “explore opportunities that may present itself to meet the cultural needs of the community for a large field suitable for Ribfest, concerts, and cultural events”.

Till now such events were being held on the fields surround the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre. However, with it being readied for expansion, the need to find alternate grounds has arisen, according to an earlier statement from Ribfest organzers to Durham Post.

The council, at a recent meeting, also directed the CAO to develop a five-year action plan, inclusive of a financing strategy, to address top short-term priorities identified in the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, and report back to council in Q1 2025.
