The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced single lane restrictions on Kingston Road in Ajax from Rotherglen Road to Galea Drive.
Restrictions are required as part of the continuing construction for the Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit (DSBRT) project on Kingston Road (Regional Highway 2).
Beginning on August 24, temporary lane reductions will be implemented along the Kingston Road corridor to facilitate construction of the DSBRT station foundations.
Eastbound traffic at Salem Road (Regional Road 41) will be reduced to a single lane, with similar lane reductions progressing to Harwood Avenue, Chapman Drive/Ritchie Avenue, and Westney Road (Regional Road 31) as construction advances.
Lane reductions are expected to remain in place until the end of 2026, with impacts at each location anticipated to last approximately four to six weeks before traffic is restored to two lanes. The region says every effort will be made to minimize disruptions and maintain traffic flow throughout construction.
