A youth from Clarington has won a world championship, the municipality announced recently.
Zain Chaudhry won the gold medal at the 2023 Youth Jiu-Jitsu World Championship held in Kazakhstan in August.
As a member of the Canadian Jiu Jitsu Association, Zain participated in the under-16, 73-kg category.
Mayor Adrian Foster and members of council congratulated Zain on his gold medal and recognized his accomplishment with a certificate of acknowledgment (see image above).
