Covid Update: 221 active cases

Durham Health yesterday posted Thirty-eight new Covid-19 cases for September 2, taking the region’s tally to 26,240 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 375, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 25,644. However, there are 221 active covid cases. Twelve people are hospitalized with three in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 209 people are in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • Nine new cases in Pickering
  • Eight in Ajax
  • Four in Whitby
  • One in Scugog
  • Twelve in Oshawa, and
  • Four in Clarington

Covid Deaths: 375

Of the 117 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 67 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 59 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 63 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
23 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
26 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
3 deaths have been reported in Brock
