Theft arrest leads to firearm find

Two male suspects face numerous charges after a theft arrest led to the seizure of a firearm in Oshawa Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday, September 3, members of East Division responded to a shoplifting call at the Walmart on Harmony Road North in Oshawa. One of the suspects entered the store, selected items and left the store without paying. The suspect made his way to an awaiting white Honda Civic and both the suspect and driver were arrested. During the investigation, police located and seized a 9mm handgun.

Ryan Holter, age 23, of Oxford Street in Oshawa and Austin Boudreau, age 19, of No Fixed Address face a combined 13 charges which include: Theft under $5,000; Mischief/Damage to Property under $5,000; Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm; Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm no Licence or Registration Certificate and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

They were both held for a bail hearing.
