Covid Update: Active cases hit recent high at 55

Durham Health yesterday posted 55 new Covid-19 cases for September 16, taking the region’s tally to 26,675 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 382, with 224 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 26,088. However, there are 205 active covid cases. Three people are hospitalized with one in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 202 people are in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • Nine new cases in Pickering
  • Eight in Ajax
  • Eleven in Whitby
  • Eighteen in Oshawa
  • Eight in Clarington, and
  • One in Scugog

Covid Deaths: 382

Of the 117 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 68 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 60 reported deaths in Whitby, 31 in LTC
Of the 68 reported deaths in Oshawa, 39 were in LTC
23 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
26 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
3 deaths have been reported in Brock
