Covid Update: New cases rise to almost thirty

Durham Health yesterday posted Twenty-eight new Covid-19 cases for August 10, taking the region’s tally to 25,582 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 375, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 25,103. However, there are 104 active covid cases. Four people are hospitalized with one in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 100 people are in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • Five new cases in Pickering
  • Seven in Ajax
  • Seven in Oshawa
  • One in Clarington
  • One in Uxbridge
  • Two in Brock, and
  • Four in Whitby

Covid Deaths: 375

Of the 117 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 67 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 59 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 63 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
23 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
26 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
3 deaths have been reported in Brock
