Covid Update: New covid cases dip below 40

Durham Health yesterday posted 37 new Covid-19 cases for May 26, taking the region’s tally to 24,350 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 362, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 23,049. However, there are 939 active covid cases. Forty-five cases are hospitalized with 2o in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 894 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • 6 cases in Pickering
  • 9 in Ajax
  • 5 in Whitby
  • 13 in Oshawa
  • 6 in Clarington
  • none in Uxbridge
  • none in Scugog
  • none in Brock

Covid Deaths: 362

Of the 116 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 63 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 57 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 60 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
22 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
25 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
2 deaths have been reported in Brock
