Covid Update: No new death posted in past week

Durham Health yesterday posted 44 new Covid-19 cases for March 14, taking the region’s tally to 12,478 since the count began on February 29.

Of these, there were 29 new variant cases.

There was no new covid death keeping this month’s toll to four. There were 11 covid deaths in February, 45 deaths in January, 53 in December and 5 in November. Durham’s overall death toll stands at 301 with 217 of them occurring in LTCs.

There were:

  • 14 new cases in Pickering
  • 12 in Ajax
  • 7 in Whitby
  • 12 in Oshawa
  • 3 in Clarington
  • 1 in Brock

Recoveries stand at 11,864 (11,833), up by 31. There are 313 active covid cases.

Twenty-six cases are hospitalized with eight in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 287 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 3,623 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 301              LTC – 217

Of the 99 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTC
Of the 51 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Forty-five deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 51 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
Fifteen deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
Sixteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
No deaths have been reported in Brock
