Covid Update: Recoveries in Durham cross 12,000

Durham Health yesterday posted 74new Covid-19 cases for March 17, taking the region’s tally to 12,640 since the count began on February 29.

It also added 27 new variants cases.

There was one new non-LTC (long term care) covid death in Whitby bringing this month’s toll to six. There were 11 covid deaths in February, 45 in January, 53 in December and 5 in November. Durham’s overall death toll stands at 303 with 217 of them occurring in LTCs.

There were:

  • 26 new cases in Pickering
  • 16 in Ajax
  • 12 in Whitby
  • 13 in Oshawa
  • 7 in Clarington
  • 1 in Uxbridge

Recoveries stand at 12,003 (11,952), up by 51. There are 334 active covid cases.

Twenty-five cases are hospitalized with 11 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 309 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 3,658 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 303              LTC – 217

Of the 99 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTC
Of the 51 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Forty-six deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 51 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
Sixteen deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
Sixteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
No deaths have been reported in Brock

  1. What web site would you recommend for lining up for vaccines age 65 – 70 with diabetes 2 ( I have been told to try and take Pfizer).
