Covid Update: The month ends with almost 200 active cases

Durham Health yesterday posted Thirty new Covid-19 cases for August 31, taking the region’s tally to 26,169 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 375, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 25,597. However, there are 197 active covid cases. Eight people are hospitalized with three in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 189 people are in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • Four new cases in Pickering
  • Two in Ajax
  • Eight in Whitby
  • Three in Scugog
  • Eight in Oshawa ,and
  • Five in Clarington

Covid Deaths: 375

Of the 117 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 67 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 59 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 63 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
23 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
26 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
3 deaths have been reported in Brock
