Covid Update: Thirty new cases, one death in Durham

Durham Health yesterday posted Thirty new Covid-19 cases for September 8, taking the region’s tally to 26,415 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 379, with 222 of them occurring in LTCs. Three new deaths have been reported, all were from LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 25,849. However, there are 187 active covid cases. Nine people are hospitalized with one in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 178 people are in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • Nine new cases in Pickering
  • Six in Ajax
  • Four in Whitby
  • Two in Oshawa
  • Five in Clarington
  • One in Uxbridge, and
  • Two in Scugog

Covid Deaths: 379

Of the 117 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 67 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 60 reported deaths in Whitby, 31 in LTC
Of the 66 reported deaths in Oshawa, 37 were in LTC
23 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
26 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
3 deaths have been reported in Brock
