Durham residents invited to Reuse Day

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region is encouraging residents to drop off reusable items free of charge at the upcoming Reuse Day event. Items will be donated to the Salvation Army Thrift Store.

When: Saturday, September 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (rain or shine).

Where: Durham Region Waste Management Centre, 4600 Garrard Road, Whitby.

What: Drop off reusable items such as clothing, textiles, shoes, home décor, bedding, sporting goods and more. For more details about accepted items, visit durham.ca/wasteevents.

Why: Reuse Days is a program to keep quality, reusable items out of the waste stream. At Reuse Days, partnering charities work with the Region to accept all good quality, reusable items.

Note: Masks and physical distancing are required. Only items deemed to be suitable for reuse by local charities will be accepted. Materials refused must be removed by residents and may be disposed of at one of the Region’s waste management facilities (fees may apply).
