Durham’s total covid case numbers cross 27,000

Durham Health yesterday posted 31 new Covid-19 cases for September 30, taking the region’s tally to 27,055 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 386, with 227 of them occurring in LTCs. A new death occurred in Whitby.

Recoveries stand at 26,496. However, there are 173 active covid cases. Four people are hospitalized with two in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). A total of 169 people are in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • 7 new case(s) in Pickering
  • 5 in Ajax
  • 7 in Whitby
  • 7 in Oshawa
  • 4 in Clarington, and
  • 1 in Uxbridge

Covid Deaths: 386

Of the 117 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 68 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 61 reported deaths in Whitby, 31 in LTC
Of the 71 reported deaths in Oshawa, 42 were in LTC
23 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
26 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
3 deaths have been reported in Brock
