Crashes cause two-hour road closures in Oshawa and Ajax

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday reported two separate collisions – one each in Ajax and Oshawa – which caused road closures for a couple of hours.

There was a road closure in Ajax. Taunton Road West was closed between Church Street North and Ravenscroft Road due to a motor vehicle collision.

Avoid the area if possible, DRPS said yesterday afternoon.

Two hours later another alert from Durham police said the road had been reopened.

Oshawa: Earlier yesterday, DRPS announced a road closure due to motor vehicle accident in Oshawa. Gibb Street was closed between Simcoe Street South and Centre Street South.

Avoid the area if possible, police said.

Some two hours later DRPS said the road had been reopened.

Athol Street: The City of Oshawa has announced that Athol Street West will be closed to through traffic from August 6 until August 20.

From August 6, 2026 until August 20, 2026

Where:

The hard closure will be in front of 39 Athol between Centre Street North and Simcoe Street North.

However local access to be provided from Simcoe Street (to parking Lot 4 and access to garage of Michael Starr building).

The closure is need to service connections to new development-construction of a 205 residential unit building-39 Athol Street West.
