Durham police said they will update the public about the alleged Scugog animal cruelty case.
Officers from North Division are currently investigating the allegations of animal cruelty after a deceased cow was located on a farm on Regional Road in Scugog.
“We have a local Veterinary attending tonight [Tuesday] to assist with checking on the health of these animals,” said a Durham Region Police Services (DRPS) statement.
“An investigator from the Animal Welfare Operations Unit will be attending to assist. We will have an update once we receive more information,” it said on July 30 at 11 pm.
The health and welfare of these animals are paramount and we are working with our local agricultural partners and the community in Scugog, said the DRPS.
People from all across Durham have been calling into report.
Some People’s Comments
Antoinette Williams Thank you so much, iv been following the story and tried to get some help out to them but the people i knew couldnt legally help. Again thank you its been heartbreaking to see and hear that no helps stepped in.
Brittney Coffin Sarah Walker sounds like they are trying to make it seem like action. Last I heard from the scene the police said they cannot do anything until an investigator shows up. No one knew if one had been assigned. People are ready to take the animals but can’t until they are given the all clear. It’s disgusting.
Dina DeRock I hope the owner gets assesed as well. Need to look out for all vulnerables.
Sandra Ferguson So glad you guys are there to help these poor animals! 👍❤️
Anne Fleer Good to hear the call was followed through and something is being done!
Richard Joseph Banks Yet DRPS doesn’t follow through when 13 year olds get robbed by thugs at the Olive/Simcoe bus stop.
Brittney Coffin How long for an investigator to show up? It’s been an entire work day since the live feed. It’s been days since you were notified of the dead and decaying animals. It’s been over a day since threats were made of gun fire to anyone who tried to help the animals. This Animal welfare system is broken before it began.
Richard Joseph Banks DRPS sometimes never shows up, and they also forget to conduct their phone interviews that they say will happen.
Matt Coombes Dominique Snow the gentlemen that owns the farm is not in good health and is not able to keep up with the work his son is suppose to as a farm boy born and raised and still am to this day i know the situation aint right but at 86 years old hell even anyone of yous here couldnt ever deal with farm labour
Brenda Walsh This is so sad. I pray whoever did this will be punished severely .Thank you Durham Police.
