Inquest into death of three persons announced

Toronto: Ontario will hold inquests into the death of three persons, according to Regional Supervising Coroners.

The first is into the death of Jeffrey Bruce Woodman, 32, who died on September 4, 2017, while detained as an inmate at Warkworth Institution. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Woodman’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths, said Dr. Paul Dungey, Regional Supervising Coroners for East Region, Kingston Office.

Details regarding the date and location will be provided at a later date when the information becomes available. Dr. Bob Reddoch will preside as inquest coroner and Mark Moorcroft will be counsel to the coroner.

Inquest into death of Douglas Kyereh

Dr. Kenneth Peckham, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Central West Office, announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Douglas Kyereh.

Kyereh, 35, died in hospital on June 13, 2016, after transfer from the Toronto South Detention Centre.

Dr. Mary Beth Bourne will preside as inquest coroner and Michally Iny will be counsel to the coroner.

New inquest date into the death of Abdullah Rahmanzadeh

Dr. Roger Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto West Office, announced that a new date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Abdullah Rahmanzadeh.

Rahmanzadeh, 30, died in hospital on August 28, 2014, as a result of injuries sustained while working at a construction site.

The inquest is expected to last three days and hear from nine witnesses. It will begin at 9 am on Monday, July 8, 2019, at the Coroner’s Courts, Forensic Services and Coroner’s Complex, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Dr.

Robert Boyko will preside as inquest coroner and Michael Blain will be counsel to the coroner.
