Domestic Assault: Second attempted murder case in recent days

Durham Police yesterday said another male is in custody for attempted murder after he repeatedly stabbed a female in a domestic related assault at an Oshawa residence (see earlier story below).

On May 9, a husband and a father was charged with attempted murder after stabbing his wife and adult child in another domestic assault case (see related story below).

On Sunday, May 12, at about 12 noon, members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Cedar Street and Wentworth Street West.

A male got into an altercation with a female and stabbed her repeatedly while inside their residence. The victim was able to flee the residence and run to a neighbouring home. Police arrived on scene and took the male into custody without incident, said a police report.

The victim was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A 42-year-old male from Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing. The accused’s name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Dowdle of the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2765.
