Driver dies after vehicle hits roadside granite boulder

Durham Police yesterday said a 61-year-old male from Oakwood has died following a single motor vehicle collision in Clarington.

On Saturday, April 13 at about 2:15 pm, members from East Division were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Regional Road 20 east of Mosport Road in Clarington.

The motor vehicle was travelling westbound on Regional Road 20 when it left the roadway and struck a large granite boulder on the north side of the road. The driver of the motor vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, said police.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. The collision is still under investigation.
