One of two who sprayed film goers caught… and released

Durham Police yesterday said a male youth has been arrested following an investigation into a noxious substance being sprayed in an Oshawa movie theatre.

On Sunday, March 24, at approximately 11:20 pm, members of East Division responded to the Cineplex Movie Theatres located at 1351 Grandview Street North. Two suspects entered a theatre and sprayed what is believed to be pepper spray during a movie.

On Thursday, April 11, members of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch concluded their investigation into a noxious substance being released in the movie theatre. The suspect youth was identified and arrangements were made for him to surrender himself to police. The youth was brought to a DRPS police station by his parents where he was taken into custody, said a police statement.

A 17-year-old male from Oshawa is charged and released on an undertaking.
