Indians in Durham celebrate Festival of Colours – Holi

Holi celebrations were hosted by Unity in Diversity and Masum Events in Clarington last weekend.

The day was filled with music, dance, food and vibrant colors. Held at Garnet Rickard Complex in Bowmanville, the event witnessed a packed hall, where attendees reveled in musical performances by singers, DJ music, and dance performances.

Dignitaries included MP Jamil Jivani, MPP Todd McCarthy, Durham Regional Chair John Henry, Clarington Deputy Mayor Granville Anderson, and Lindsay Hamilton from Bowmanville Hospital Foundation.

There were also food offerings, including a variety of traditional Indian cuisines, enhancing the cultural experience.

The highlight of the event was the traditional Holi festivities, where attendees played with vibrant colors, creating a kaleidoscope of hues amidst laughter and joy.

The event’s success underscores the community’s spirit of unity and celebration, fostering connections and embracing diversity. With the success of this event, the mission of Uniting People and Cultures of Unity and Diversity is achieved and will continue with future upcoming events, organizers said.
