Two of four in machete attack on boy at movie theatre held

A simple visit to the theatre turned into a robbery and machete attack for this 15-year old boy. Two teen boys have been arrested in connection with the crime.

On Sunday, October 25, at around 12:40 am, officers from Central West Division responded to Landmark Cinemas, located at 75 Consumers Drive, for an armed person call. Officers arrived and located a 15-year-old boy suffering from a significant laceration.

Investigators determined the victim attended the theatre to meet a girl he knew through social media. While at the theatre, he was approached by a group of youth, who demanded the victim give them his jacket. When he refused to surrender his belongings, one of the suspects produced a machete, struck the victim in the arm, and then the group assaulted him before stealing his jacket and cash.

Investigators identified four suspects and arrest warrants were issued for two. On October, 28, they were arrested without incident.

At the time of their arrests, both teens were in violation of release and sentence orders. The two suspects are a 15 year old boy from Oshawa and a 17 year old boy from Pickering.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with cell phone, dash cam, surveillance footage, or information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. BOODHOO of the Central West Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1805.
