Durham covid count: 1,152 cases; 143 deaths

Durham Region Health Department yesterday said 1,152 Covid-19 cases have been reported in the region since February 29.

The count on Friday had stood at 1,139.

Of the total cases, 41 are hospitalized, of which four are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Deaths total 143, of which 124 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 724.

Durham Health yesterday updated the overall community-wide covid breakdown. The highest number of cases at 435 were in Pickering followed by 293 in Ajax and 193 in Oshawa.

Death Toll:

  • Of the 79 reported deaths in Pickering, 77 were in LTCH
  • Of the 30 reported deaths in Ajax, 27 were in LTCH – no change
  • Two deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Of the 21 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH – no change
  • Six deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Five deaths in LTCH were reported in Uxbridge – no change
  • No deaths have been reported in Scugog or Brock – no change
