Durham covid flattening? Seven new cases

Durham Region Health Department reported seven new Covid-19 cases yesterday bringing to 1,139 the number of cases reported in the region since February 29.

On Thursday, the count had stood at 1,132.

Of the total cases, 46 are hospitalized, of which four are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Deaths total 140, of which 121 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 707.

Durham Health yesterday updated the overall community-wide covid breakdown. The highest number of cases at 429 were in Pickering followed by 290 in Ajax and 192 in Oshawa.

Death Toll:

  • Of the 76 reported deaths in Pickering, 74 were in LTCH
  • Of the 30 reported deaths in Ajax, 27 were in LTCH – no change
  • Two deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Of the 21 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH
  • Six deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Five deaths in LTCH were reported in Uxbridge – no change
  • No deaths have been reported in Scugog or Brock – no change
