Durham covid count at 1,132; deaths at 137

Durham Region Health Department yesterday said 1,132 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the region since February 29.

On Wednesday, the count had stood at 1,111.

Of the total cases, 43 are hospitalized, of which five are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Deaths total 137, of which 118 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 644.

Durham Health yesterday updated the overall community-wide covid breakdown. The highest number of cases at 427 were in Pickering followed by 287 in Ajax and 189 in Oshawa.

Death Toll:

  • Of the 75 reported deaths in Pickering, 73 were in LTCH
  • Of the 30 reported deaths in Ajax, 27 were in LTCH
  • Two deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Of the 19 reported deaths in Oshawa, 13 were in LTCH
  • Six deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Five deaths in LTCH were reported in Uxbridge – no change
  • No deaths have been reported in Scugog or Brock – no change
