Durham covid count at 1,404; deaths at 171

Durham Region Health Department yesterday said 1,404 Covid-19 cases have been reported in the region since February 29. Three new covid-related death were also reported.

The Covid-19 count on Tuesday had stood at 1,399.

Of the total cases, 23 are hospitalized, of which 6 are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Deaths total 171, of which 145 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 1,076.

Durham Health yesterday updated the overall community-wide Covid breakdown. The highest number of cases at 496 were in Pickering followed by 361 in Ajax and 226 in Oshawa.

Death Toll:

  • Of the 88 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
  • Of the 35 reported deaths in Ajax, 30 were in LTCH
  • Three deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Of the 23 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH – no change
  • Seven deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH] – no change
  • 14 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 13 in LTCH – no change
  • One death has been reported in Scugog
  • No deaths have been reported in Brock – no change
