Motorcyclist flies into pole – 10th hit this year

An Ajax male suffered multiple, serious injuries after losing control of his motorcycle and striking a pole, Durham police said yesterday.

This is the 10th reported collision with a pole in Durham so far  this year – and the fifth one this month.

On May 26 at around 10:30 pm, East Division officers were called to the area of Mearns Avenue and Concession Street East in Bowmanville. A 30-year-old male motorcyclist was southbound on Mearns Avenue and was thrown from his bike after hitting a curb. The male left the roadway and hit a pole, the police said.

He was transported to a Toronto trauma centre by land ambulance with multiple, serious, but non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported, it added.

Anyone with new information about this collision is asked to contact Cst. Birmingham of East Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2205.

  1. Why are you using a picture of a different intersection? Real news story with fake news pictures for reference. Trying to get some extra attention? Media is sickening

  2. Why was this image used in conjunction with this story? The accident didn’t occur at the rainbow crosswalk.
