Durham covid count at 1,435; deaths at 173

Durham Region Health Department yesterday said 1,435 Covid-19 cases have been reported in the region since February 29. One new covid-related death were also reported.

The number of Covid-19 infections on Thursday had stood at 1,424.

Of the total cases, 25 are hospitalized, of which 6 are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Deaths total 173, of which 147 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 1,103.

Durham Health yesterday updated the overall community-wide Covid breakdown. The highest number of cases at 505 were in Pickering followed by 368 in Ajax and 232 in Oshawa.

Death Toll: One new in Scugog

  • Of the 88 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH – no change
  • Of the 36 reported deaths in Ajax, 31 were in LTCH – no change
  • Three deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Of the 23 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH – no change
  • Seven deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH] – no change
  • 14 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 13 in LTCH – no change
  • Two deaths have been reported in Scugog, both in LTCH
  • No deaths have been reported in Brock – no change
