Durham covid count crosses 1,000, deaths at 119

Durham Region Health Department yesterday said 1020 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the region since February 29.

On Friday, the count had stood at 995.

Of the total cases, 41 are hospitalized, of which four are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Deaths total 119, of which 102 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 510.

Durham Health yesterday updated the overall community-wide covid breakdown. The highest number of cases at 388 were in Pickering followed by 266 in Ajax and 167 in Oshawa.

Death Toll:

  • Of the 61 reported deaths in Pickering, 59 were in LTCH
  • Of the 29 reported deaths in Ajax, 26 were in LTCH
  • Two deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH]
  • Of the 17 reported deaths in Oshawa, 13 were in LTCH
  • Six deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
  • Four deaths in LTCH were reported in Uxbridge
  • No deaths have been reported in Scugog or Brock
