Durham Police are continuing to search for a man who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second degree murder and attempted murder.
Members of the Homicide Unit are actively looking for him and would like to remind anyone that is found to be assisting him to evade police is guilty of an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada and will be prosecuted to the full extent, said a statement.
Accessory After the Fact to Murder is an indictable offence and any person convicted can face up to life in prison.
On March 12, at approximately 4 am, members of East Division responded to an address on Simcoe Street, Oshawa for reports of an armed person. Police arrived on scene and located two adult females suffering from stab wounds. Both females were transported to Toronto-area trauma centres where one, Katie Kainz, had succumbed to her injuries. The second female victim continues to recover from life altering injuries.
Investigators are asking for anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam and home surveillance, to please contact police.
